Originally CC Construction, Amnesia, Millennium 2001, Escandalo (Scandles), Then Club Rio (Strait Latin Club)
Origionally this was a small bar located at: 68449 Perez Rd in Cathedral City. The El Rio now resides in this location. It was a originally a beer and wine bar owned by Christian Haren. About a year later, Cal Willis took it over and added a full liquor license. He then continued to expand it by adding the "Tool Room". Here they always played slides of all the locals and visitors. It was very popular. The bar was elevated about 3 feet above the main floor. Soon after that the cement dance floor was added nearling doubling the size of the bar. There was a latter to climb up for access to the 2nd level DJ booth that had small bar below it. Parking was available all around and in front of the building. A small patio about 4' by 20' was on the north side of the building. Cal's lover Ron Farrari always made a great Monday after bowling party with food. You never knew what he would make, but it was always delicious.
Later, the Fire Department insissted that there would be access all around the building so no cars could be parked there. This led to a much bigger patio that was built and still leaving access for a fire truck. Sundays became THE place to be for a Country Western Dance Party, Beer Bust, and $1 hotdog/hamburgers.
It was always fun to go to the bathroom with the full lenth mirror in front of the troff. Also, there was a 1' by 4' open area to look out to the dance floor & Bar.
In 1997 Cal sold the bar to Dan and Brent from San Francisco and New York. They further expanded the bar and brought in huge parties like The White Party.
About a year after Choices opened up across the street on Perez, Dan and Brent decided to move to bar to Sunrise and call it CC on Sunrise.
